Sierra Ski Resort at Lake Tahoe

by Mildly Amused

You will probably find that The Sierra ski resort at Lake Tahoe should have pretty much all any skier could ever want in a ski resort. There is 2,000 acres of terrain, a 2,212 vertical rise, forty six (46) ski trails, six (6) terrain parks, nine (9) chair lifts and three (3) surface lifts not to mention the average 560 inches yearly snowfall which is nothing to sneeze at no matter where you've skiied in the past.

So far as lodging is concerned, the resort is located approximately thirty minutes away from South Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Ski Resort at Lake Tahoe even runs (at the time of this review) a shuttle.

I have always found nice snow when visiting the Sierra at Tahoe even when visiting on spring days or after a winter dry spell. Beaver is the only run that seems to be affected by long dry spells.

Some skiers complain that there doesn't seem to be that many trails considering the acreage. The reason for this is that a lot of the 2,000 acres are not in the trees. This doesn't bother me because I like tree skiing on a powder day. Maybe the only thing not to love about the area is the crowds but chances are that you will have to deal with this at any of the best ski resorts found on the top 10 list.

Your experience with this resort may be completely different and I would be interested in reading reviews on the Sierra ski resort at Lake Tahoe from other skiiers and whether they went there on a Fun Weekend Getaway or a Lake Tahoe Family Ski Vacation.
